Maryland man charged with murder in Rockville bar shooting – WTOP News

A Gaithersburg man was arrested Thursday and charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of another man at a Rockville, Maryland, sports bar earlier this week.

Charging documents said 21-year-old Shayan Solimani Damabi and Nicholas Njuki, 33, got into an argument at around 2 a.m. Sunday inside Quincy’s Potomac Bar and Grille, just off Seven Locks Road.

They were escorted out of the bar, and the suspect continued to “engage” Njuki and a friend of his, police said.

Njuki and his friend ultimately drove off, but encountered Solimani Damabi again at the intersection of Fortune Terrace and Northside Park Boulevard, just outside of the bar’s parking lot.

According to the charging documents, Njuki got out of the vehicle and approached Solimani Damabi, who then allegedly shot him. One witness said it sounded like “automatic gunfire.”

Detectives said Damabi then fired at Njuki’s friend, who drove off. Solimani Dambi then fled the scene as well.

First responders found Njuki in the bar’s parking lot with apparent gunshot wounds. He died at the scene.

Solimani Damabi was arrested Thursday at a Gaithersburg motel and appeared in Maryland District Court on Friday.

He’s charged with first-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a violent crime. He’s being held at a Montgomery County detention center where he’s awaiting a bond hearing.
