Maryland drivers can track progress of Key Bridge construction – WTOP News

Maryland drivers who have been seeking out details on replacing Baltimore’s Francis Scott Key Bridge, which collapsed two years ago after it was struck by a cargo ship, now have somewhere to look.

A new dashboard rolled out Friday morning by the Maryland Transportation Authority gives drivers an in-depth view of the project that’s set to open in 2030, according to Bruce Gartner, the agency’s executive director.

“It will help the public track this because the view from the river for many people is not that accessible,” he said. “We’ve put things out that are actively going on.”

The dashboard will be updated every month. Gartner said Gov. Wes Moore asked his team to make sure the rebuild project offered transparency for drivers.

The dashboard provides a rundown of the new suspension bridge’s scale: its more than two-mile total length, 600-plus-foot pylons and the more than 1,600-foot distance between the main span pylons.

In addition to the construction work, the dashboard includes several features that detail everything from the latest renderings to upcoming bids on future work.

The hope is that the dashboard will keep everybody on the same page.

“We’re working as quickly as possible, and we want them to be able to see that,” he said. “There’s a lot of different information out there about the project. This can be a source of truth for the progress on the project.”
