Marvel Rivals adds High/Low-Resolution Resource Pack option

Marvel Rivals has released a High/Low-Resolution Resource Pack feature, letting players switch between HD assets and smaller low-res packs based on device performance.

For players balancing performance and visuals in Marvel Rivals, the game now offers a new choice: download the version of assets that best fits your device.

The developer has rolled out the High/Low-Resolution Resource Pack feature. which relies on a downloadable content (DLC) mechanism to separate high-resolution and low-resolution resource packs.. Players who already own the game can choose whether to enable the DLC. with the outcome determined by the setting they select: if DLC is enabled. the high-resolution resource pack is used; if DLC is disabled. the low-resolution resource pack is used.

The low-resolution option is designed to reduce the overall installation size, though the studio notes that visual fidelity may be lower in some cases. The team says the switch should be made after updating the game to the latest version so the feature works properly.

How players can enable or disable the packs differs by platform.

On NetEase Fever Games. players who download for the first time will see a game version selection menu next to the download button.. The options shown are “Game Only” and “Game Only + HD assets,” allowing players to decide what they download up front.. For those who have already downloaded the game, the button will show as “Play” once the initial download is complete.. Players who chose “Game Only” during first download can then open the menu on the right side of the main button to download HD assets.. After the download finishes, the button returns to “Play,” and the game package is switched to the high-resolution resource package.

On Steam, the DLC is enabled by default for new installs, meaning the high-resolution resource pack is used after download.. Players who prefer the low-resolution pack from the start can do so through the DLC settings.. For players who have already downloaded the game. the process is straightforward: open the Steam Library. right-click Marvel Rivals. select Properties. then go to the DLC tab and uncheck the DLC to switch to the low-resolution pack.. Checking it again triggers the high-resolution resource pack download.

Epic Games Store support is listed as coming soon.. The same general approach is expected to apply: the DLC will be enabled by default for first-time downloads. and the high-resolution resource pack will be enabled after download.. For players who already have the game. switching between resource packs will be done through the Epic Games Library by selecting the “…” menu next to Marvel Rivals. then choosing Options and enabling or disabling the “Marvel Rivals HD Texture Pack.”

After a player enables or disables the relevant DLC, the game will automatically load the corresponding resources. If issues occur during switching, the developer directs players to use the official support channels or customer support for help.

The changes are framed as part of the studio’s ongoing effort to improve the experience for a wide range of devices, with the High/Low-Resolution Resource Pack giving players more control over the tradeoff between download size and visual detail.
