Man, 20, facing murder charges in fatal Dorchester shooting

Joseph Bailey pleaded not guilty to the charge of murder, court records show.
A 20-year-old man was arrested following a deadly shooting in Dorchester Wednesday evening, police said.
The shooting took place shortly before 5:40 p.m. near 7 Whitfield St., the Boston Police Department said in a press release.
Officers found a person suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital, where he later died, police said. Authorities had not publicly identified the victim as of Thursday evening.
After an investigation, authorities identified Joseph Bailey, 20, of Dorchester, as the suspect, police said.
Bailey was arrested and charged with murder, court records show.
At his arraignment Thursday in Dorchester, Bailey pleaded not guilty and was ordered held without bail, per court records.
Attorney information for Bailey was not immediately available Thursday evening.
Bailey is scheduled to return to court Oct. 22 for a probable cause hearing, court records show.
