Kate Middleton’s Italy trip sparks Diana comparisons, expert says

A body language expert says Kate Middleton’s solo trip to Italy carried the same humility people associate with Princess Diana, pointing to how she connects with both leaders and everyday communities as she resumes royal duties after cancer remission.
Kate Middleton’s first solo tour since announcing her remission from cancer in 2025 is now drawing fresh attention not just for where she went, but for how she was seen being with people.
Body language expert Darren Stanton believes the way she carried herself during her visit to Italy echoed Princess Diana, saying the comparison isn’t just surface-level. “I think Kate is so much like Princess Diana and seems so humble with other people,” Stanton said.
Stanton also argued there’s a deeper pattern at play in the moments that matter most—whether she’s standing in front of major figures or meeting ordinary people. “There is a correlation between the two, whether or not she is with Prince William,” he said.
For Stanton, that ability to shift seamlessly between worlds is one of Kate’s standout strengths. “Kate can go from meeting world leaders to going to the BAFTAs. She is good at communicating from the highest possible level of society to people who have nothing,” he explained.
He added that Kate’s public approach mirrors what many people remember from Diana. “Kate has no issues with anyone. People saw that in Diana, and they do see that in her. She is selfless, and that is an emotion you cannot fake,” Stanton said.
Stanton further highlighted the personal quality behind the connection. “She has a genuine love for people. Kate has that ability to be herself, whether she is dressed casually or wearing a tiara,” he added.
As Kate continues to fully resume her royal duties, Stanton said the overall mood around her has felt notably positive. “She is going to be a Queen that truly cares, and she wants to make a difference to people’s lives,” he said, pointing to how she appeared “genuinely happy” during the visit.
He concluded by describing the authenticity he believes is driving public resonance. “She doesn’t think she is better than everybody else, and that’s why the public resonates with her. That authenticity comes over very clearly,” Stanton said. “Kate is definitely in her element,” he added.
