Team USA coach Kara Lawson didn’t hold back her thoughts on Breanna Stewart’s impact on the squad after winning gold in the World Cup.
Kara Lawson was emotional about Breanna Stewart after they led Team USA to the championship after beating France 97-79 in the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup on Sunday afternoon.
Stewart boasted remarkable experience on the national team, appearing in numerous World Cups and Olympics for the U.S. She won gold medals in many of them, showing her success at the international level while playing a key role on those squads.
It was the same on this year’s USA squad, being their full-time starter once again.
In 30 minutes of action, Stewart was highly efficient in USA’s win over France. She led the team with a stat line of 22 points, 10 rebounds and four assists. She shot 7-of-10 from the field and 8-of-9 from the free-throw line.
