Julianne Moore Celebrated at Cannes’ Kering Women In Motion

Julianne Moore received the Women In Motion award at the 2026 Kering Women In Motion Awards during the Cannes Film Festival, joining a star-studded event attended by Kering leadership, Salma Hayek, and other major cinema figures.

Julianne Moore didn’t just walk into the 2026 Kering Women In Motion Awards at Place de la Castre on Sunday, May 17—she stepped into a spotlight meant to honor a long-running push for women’s visibility in cinema.

The 65-year-old actress was named the recipient of the Women In Motion award at the annual event. held during the 2026 Cannes Film Festival.. The honor is designed to “celebrate female artists whose careers and commitment have advanced the role of women both in cinema and in society. ” and Moore matched that message in her remarks about the importance of being seen.

“I’m genuinely grateful for this recognition from Kering and the Festival de Cannes.. Being part of Women In Motion’s legacy is incredibly meaningful to me.. I’ve always believed that visibility matters. that the stories we choose to tell can widen the space for women. and for a richer diversity of voices. both on screen and behind the camera.. Continuing to work together to amplify female and diverse voices and to support the next generation of creators helps build a cinema that is more open. more representative. while driving real change.”

Moore also leaned into the evening’s style spotlight, stepping out in a Bottega Veneta look.

While Moore’s recognition centered on her career and commitment, the room carried more than one kind of star power.. Kering chairman Francois-Henri Pinault—whose father founded the company—was present with his wife, Salma Hayek.. Their daughter, Mathilde Pinault, also attended.. The luxury group counts brands including Gucci. Yves Saint Laurent. Balenciaga. Alexander McQueen. Boucheron. Pomellato and Bottega Veneta among its portfolio.

Francois-Henri Pinault also spoke to the choice of Moore, saying, “Julianne Moore fully embodies the spirit of Women In Motion.. A second major spotlight followed the Women In Motion tribute: filmmaker Margherita Spampinato was honored with the 2026 Emerging Talent Award.. The award is given to a female director for her first feature film and comes with “accompanied by a €50. 000 grant to support the creation of the laureate’s second feature project.” This year’s honor recognized Spampinato for her movie Gioia Mia (Sweetheart). described as a film that “reflects the vitality and originality of a new generation of filmmakers shaping the future of cinema.”

“I am grateful and happy to receive the 2026 Women In Motion Emerging Talent Award. and it is a great honor to receive it from Marianna Brennand. a director I deeply admire.. This award moves me because it supports the creativity and freedom of new female voices in cinema and the arts around the world.”
