Joe Scarborough Praises 1 Democrat That Republicans ‘Don’t Know What To Do With’

“Morning Joe” host Joe Scarborough said Monday that Kansas Democrat Adam Hamilton is running a Senate campaign that is flummoxing the GOP after his “Wizard of Oz” speech in a debate against incumbent Roger Marshall.

Hamilton, a megachurch pastor, spun a parable of how the Scarecrow, Tin Man and Cowardly Lion represent Washington’s need for a brain, heart and courage. And like the twister that spun the 1939 classic film into action, Hamilton’s words blew Scarborough away.

“The rev is running an incredible campaign out there,” the MS NOW host said. “It’s a campaign that Republicans really don’t know what to do with because they’re so used to saying Democrats are anti-God and they’re communists, and they’re this and they’re that.”

“When you look at what he’s been doing over the past couple of weeks in a race, it’s much closer than anybody ever expected it to be,” Scarborough continued.

Some recent polls show Hamilton with a surmountable deficit and one even has him in the lead, according to a New York Times aggregation. Democrats have not won a Senate race in Kansas in nearly a century.

But following the yellow brick road sure helped Hamilton win over Scarborough.

“I thought, this is what’s wrong in Washington, D.C., right now,” Hamilton told the crowd at the Kansas State Fair on Saturday. “We got a lot of people up there. We got a lot of people out there who lost their minds. They’re no longer using critical thinking skills to solve problems. They’re not thinking for themselves. They’re doing whatever their president or their party tells them to do. That’s not good for Kansas.”

He also reached out to his GOP opponent’s supporters.

“I’m looking at you, even the Marshall fans,” he said. “You don’t look dangerous to me. You got to listen. You listen to your people. And when you do, you find it hard because you see people suffering, you hear their pain, and you say, I got to do something about that. I can’t keep voting for things that take away 51,000 people’s health insurance in the state of Kansas.”

Marshall, a physician, got booed as if he were the Wicked Witch and heard cries of “shame on you!” over reports that he sued hundreds of patients who couldn’t pay their medical bills.
