Iran said Monday that it would use “new weapons with new capabilities” if the U.S. launches new attacks on the country, a day after President Donald Trump said he’s in “deciding mode” on what comes next in the war.
Trump told Fox News on Sunday that “very big things” could happen in Iran in the near future.
“My question is, if and when do I blow the entire nation up? They better behave,” Trump said.

Iran responded with its own warning.
“If a new aggression takes place, we will definitely change the weapons and geography of the war,” Hossein Mohebbi, a spokesman for Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, said Monday, according to the semiofficial Fars news agency.
Mohebbi did not specify what new weapons Iran would use or what he meant by changing the geography of the war.
The warnings come as Iran’s president and foreign minister head to New York for the United Nations General Assembly, which begins Tuesday. Trump also told Fox’s Trey Yingst that he would probably be open to meeting with Iran’s president.
New talk of negotiations
An anonymous high-ranking Iranian source said Saturday that mediators Qatar and Pakistan informed Tehran the U.S. is ready to negotiate, according to CBS News.
Iran said it won’t return to negotiations until the U.S. ends hostilities, releases frozen Iranian assets and lifts the naval blockade.
The U.S. has not confirmed that it is ready to negotiate.
Iran said the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed until its conditions are met and the U.S. follows through on its commitments.
