How to bet NFL Week 2 based on last week’s results: Will the scoring bonanza continue?

The action starts tonight when the Lions and Bills square off at the newly opened Highmark Stadium. The final chapter is equally intriguing, as the Giants meet the Rams on Monday Night Football.

Vikings vs. Bears over 48.5 points

According to NFL.com, 791 points were scored in Week 1, tied for the most in the Super Bowl era. Eleven teams lit up the scoreboards with 30+ points, but nobody had a bigger day than the Bears.

The Bears mauled the Panthers 59-37 thanks to QB Caleb Williams’ 269 passing yards, 65 rushing yards and four total touchdowns. However, Chicago’s ground game was the real star of the show.

The Monsters of the Midway picked up an absurd 291 rushing yards and six touchdowns. Seventh-year RB D’Andre Swift led the way with 124 yards, followed by RB Kyle Monangai’s 100 yards on 10 attempts.

Falling one point shy of 60 in Week 1 is impressive, but the Bears had to keep their foot on the gas because of their porous defense. Panthers QB Bryce Young threw for 361 yards and three touchdowns, while WRs Jalen Coker and Tetairoa McMillan combined for 213 yards and two scores.

Chicago’s defensive line struggles to pressure opposing passers, leaving an already-thin secondary susceptible to big plays. With WR Justin Jefferson and the Vikings heading to the Windy City in Week 2, bettors can expect a shootout at Soldier Field. Despite playing most of the game with backup QB Carson Wentz, Minnesota dropped 39 points in a Week 1 triumph over Green Bay.

Jahmyr Gibbs 100+ rushing yards + anytime touchdown scorer

The Bears and Vikings weren’t the only NFC North teams with gaudy offensive numbers in Week 1. The Lions nearly blew a 21-point lead against the Saints but held on to claim a 31-30 overtime victory. Despite nearly choking away a giant lead, Detroit RB Jahmyr Gibbs is capturing headlines in the Motor City.

Gibbs and RB David Montgomery split the backfield work for the past three seasons. They formed one of the NFL’s best RB duos until Montgomery signed with the Texans this offseason.

Gibbs now has full autonomy in coach Dan Campbell’s rushing attack, and he took care of business last Sunday. The Offensive Player of the Year favorite handled a league-high 29 carries for 156 yards and two touchdowns. He also caught all five targets from QB Jared Goff, tallying 30 receiving yards.

Up next for Gibbs and the Lions is a primetime clash with the Bills on Thursday Night Football. The Texans’ offense was a step behind for much of the 2025 season, but the unit picked up 124 rushing yards and two touchdowns against Buffalo.

Look for Gibbs to have another eye-popping stat line against a Bills defense learning a new scheme under rookie coordinator Jim Leonhard.

Giants (+7.5) vs. Rams

One of the must-see matchups of NFL Week 2 pits the Giants against the Rams on Monday Night Football. Los Angeles’ stock fell following a 20-point loss to the 49ers last week. Things got even worse a few days later when news broke that DE Myles Garrett underwent knee surgery, sidelining the future Hall of Famer for at least four weeks.

Meanwhile, public opinion on New York is surging, thanks to a 28-20 win versus the Cowboys in Week 1. New coach John Harbaugh took the reins for the G-Men this offseason, and his veteran leadership is already showing on the gridiron.

Sophomore QB Jaxson Dart played arguably the best game of his career, throwing for three touchdowns and no interceptions with a 79.3% completion rate. New TE Isaiah Likely and WR Malik Nabers combined for 147 yards and two touchdowns, while RB Cam Skattebo scampered for 81 yards and a score.

New York’s defense surrendered 244 total yards, holding WRs CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens to fewer than 45 yards apiece. Cowboys QB Dak Prescott was 14-3 against the Giants entering Week 1, but he’s now 0-1 in the Harbaugh era.

Things may finally be turning around at MetLife Stadium, but the Giants are still priced as heavy underdogs against the Super Bowl favorites. If Dart continues to command the offense while avoiding the chaotic style that defined his rookie campaign, the G-Men are in a great position to keep the final score within a touchdown.
