NORMAN — The game started with Kansas trying to slow the Sooners early, but Miali Guachino made it look routine. She struck out six batters, allowed no walk, and kept Kansas from ever building momentum as Oklahoma coasted to a 9-0, five-inning victory on Saturday, May 16.

Kasidi Pickering then swung Oklahoma’s lead into a bigger swing. launching a 272-foot home run to right after a leadoff walk to Gabbie Garcia.. Isabela Emerling followed immediately. homering to center on the very next pitch and sending the Sooners into the kind of rhythm they’ve been showing throughout this stretch.

Guachino’s day kept pressure on Kansas even when runners reached base. She stranded a pair of runners, including a leadoff single in the second. Through the first two innings, the Sooners’ pitcher delivered four strikeouts, and when the offense finally broke open, it did so with force.

In the fourth inning, Oklahoma bats hit around, scoring six runs on four hits to turn the game decisive.. Emerling and Abby Dayton added RBI doubles.
