Gen V Cancellation: Jaz Sinclair Honors Chance Perdomo

Jaz Sinclair reacted to Gen V’s cancellation, reflecting on her five-year role and honoring late co-star Chance Perdomo.

Gen V’s cancellation landed with an emotional thud for its cast, and Jaz Sinclair didn’t wait to mark the moment. In an Instagram post, she looked back on her five-year run on the series and paid tribute to her late co-star, Chance Perdomo, who died in March 2024 in a fatal motorcycle accident.

Sinclair, who portrayed Marie Moreau in The Boys spin-off, said her first audition for the role came in January 2021.. She described her usual audition routine as something that typically turns into a “tape and forget about it” process. but admitted she had unusually intense dreams about this character for about a month.

After what she described as several subsequent auditions, she said she learned she had been chosen for the part.. She recalled the moment with vivid energy. writing about screaming. crying. and jumping up and down. capturing the feeling as full-body excitement that arrives when something finally feels “all the way right.”

For Sinclair. the work wasn’t just a long credit line—it was a stretch of daily effort packed into years.. She said it was difficult to compress five seasons into anything simple. pointing instead to a mix of highs and strain: joys and challenges. loss and laughter. late nights. and the friendships that grew along the way.

She also spoke with pride about what the role meant to her personally.. Sinclair highlighted the opportunity to portray a complex woman of color, describing the character as fierce, flawed, and powerful.. She framed the chance to embody that kind of multifaceted figure—“fierce” without being one-dimensional—as something that carried particular weight for her as a woman. especially as a woman of color.

There was another kind of significance in the feedback as well. Sinclair noted how special it was to learn that people had connected with her portrayal, suggesting that audience reception became part of the experience, not just something that happened after filming wrapped.

At the center of the post, however, was her homage to Chance Perdomo. She expressed gratitude “from the bottom of my heart” and said, simply, “For Chance,” underscoring that the cancellation moment is bound up not only with the show’s end, but with a loss that still resonates.

The reaction reflects a familiar pattern in entertainment when a series ends unexpectedly: cast members look backward to the work and the relationships built over time.. For longtime viewers. Sinclair’s remarks add a deeper layer to what Gen V represented—an ensemble of characters and actors whose stories carried forward. until a final chapter closed amid real-world grief.
