Frustrated DeForest Buckner Sounds Off After Colts Fall to Winless Titans

Indianapolis Colts defensive tackle DeForest Buckner expressed deep frustration following a loss to the Tennessee Titans, delivering an emotional assessment of the franchise’s ongoing struggles to return to postseason contention.
Speaking to reporters at his locker after the game, an emotional Buckner did not hold back his disappointment regarding the direction of the team. The Colts suffered the defeat against a Titans squad that entered the matchup with an 0-5 record, giving Tennessee its first victory of the season and dropping Indianapolis further into familiar territory.
“I’m sick and tired of the same song and dance every year,” Buckner told reporters. “We lost to the Tennessee Titans, who were 0-5, and now they’re 1-5.”
When the Colts originally traded their first-round selection in the 2020 NFL draft, front office leadership believed the move would secure a cornerstone player who would serve as a final piece for a championship contender. Instead, after losing in the wild card round that same year, Indianapolis has failed to return to the playoffs in the seasons since, fueling mounting frustration among veteran leaders.
Asked directly whether his sharp criticism implied a loss of confidence in head coach Shane Steichen or General Manager Chris Ballard, Buckner clarified that his frustration was not directed at the leadership structure. “I have confidence in everybody in this building,” Buckner said, pivoting his focus toward internal accountability.
Buckner emphasized that the solution begins with individual self-evaluation across the roster rather than finger-pointing. “Every single person on the team needs to be critics of themselves and figure out what we need to do better,” he said.
