Formentor lighthouse café tenders open for ten-year term

The Board of Directors of the Balearic Port Authority (APB) has approved the tender specifications and clauses governing the public tender for the operation of premises at the Formentor lighthouse intended for use as a bar, café and restaurant. The tender will allow for the operation of the facilities linked to the café and restaurant located next to the lighthouse, including various areas of the main building and other adjoining premises. In a statement, the port authority has indicated that the future successful bidder will

be able to manage the establishment for a maximum period of ten years. The Formentor lighthouse café has been open to the public since 1995 and has established itself over the decades as one of Mallorca’s most iconic visitor attractions, for both residents and tourists. ‘Its privileged location, in a setting of extraordinary scenic and environmental value, makes it a unique space that forms part of the experience of those visiting the Formentor peninsula,’ the APB emphasised. With this call for tenders, the APB seeks

to ensure the continuity of catering operations at the lighthouse through an open procedure that allows for the selection of the proposal offering the best conditions for managing the space. The business has remained operational in recent years thanks to a temporary authorisation granted through a public tender by the Port Authority’s Board of Directors in 2022. Now, the APB is taking a further step by inviting tenders for a longer-term concession, which will bring “stability” to the operation of this landmark establishment for residents

and visitors alike.
