Ford Mustang Mach-E Premium: Quick, stylish and still debatable as a Mustang – WTOP News
The 2026 Ford Mustang Mach-E Premium makes a strong first impression and the performance underneath backs up at least some of that swagger.
With extended-range battery power, electric all-wheel drive and 370 horsepower, this Mach-E hits 60 mph in just 4.2 seconds while still offering an estimated 300 miles of range. That’s a compelling combination of speed, comfort and everyday usability, though getting this particular example to nearly $60,000 requires checking quite a few option boxes.
PRICE POINT
$59,635 here, after options and shipping. The Premium is one level up from the base Select but below the GT and Rally. Ford, on its website, says of the Premium: “Range is its Claim to Fame.”
JOHN’S FAVORITE FEATURES
This one looks flashy in its Race Red paint (new for 2026, $495). The extended-range battery and eAWD shoot this Mach-E to 0-60 mph in 4.2 seconds, thanks to 370 ponies.
AREA FOR IMPROVEMENT
Range is good but not exceptional. It would be nice if much of the equipment here came standard or as part of the Premium package. In this case, there’s a panoramic roof package ($1,875), a technology package ($1,495) that includes the BlueCruise “driving assistance feature” and the sport appearance package ($2,995) which gives you black wheels and red interior stitching, among other things. The extended range battery ($4,750) brings with it an estimated 300 miles of range with the eAWD. There’s no spare tire, only a tire sealant and inflator kit ($145).
ELECTRONICS AND TECH
That BlueCruise system is generally very good, as I learned during my extended time in the Expedition Tremor. The vertically-oriented center screen mostly replaces physical buttons, though a volume knob remains. Still, the screen is logically laid out and easy enough to use.
EXTERIOR
The aforementioned paint and black accents add character. New for 2026, and very helpful, are rear “grabber handles” for the doors, which no longer just sit flush in the back. There are Mustang styling cues all over, from the tri-bar taillights to the running horse emblems. Feel free to continue debating whether an SUV can be called a Mustang.
INTERIOR AND CARGO
Comfortable and usable, featuring black perforated “ActiveX” synthetic leather. The front trunk, or “frunk,” is now an extra-cost option ($495).
