BATON ROUGE, La. — Flau’jae Johnson is preparing to walk across the graduation stage Saturday at LSU, heading into a milestone moment shaped by two different phases of her basketball career.

The former LSU women’s basketball player will receive a college degree in interdisciplinary studies. with a minor in business administration. communications studies and entrepreneurship.. She is expected to do it in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. the same venue where she played for four seasons. with family members. friends. coaches and former teammates among those in attendance.

Johnson’s schedule is already being shaped by her professional jump.. She is in the midst of her rookie season after being selected eighth overall by the Golden State Valkyries and later traded to the Seattle Storm on draft night.. Even with the early stage of that WNBA run. she will return to Baton Rouge to graduate in front of the people who watched her build her LSU career.

The backdrop is a rare college-to-pro path in the transfer portal era.. Johnson recently completed a four-year run with LSU in which she played and started in all 35 games the Tigers played.. She finished as LSU’s second-leading scorer, averaging 14.2 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.3 steals per contest.. She scored in double digits 27 times, including nine outings with 20-plus points.

Her final LSU season also landed her among the program’s recognized performers.. Johnson ended her college career as one of 14 active players in the 2025-26 season to have 2. 000-plus points while in college.. She earned a spot on the Third Team for All-America lists published by the Associated Press and USBWA and was a finalist for the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award. given to the nation’s top shooting guard.. She was also selected to the All-SEC First Team for the second straight season.

There’s also a deeper connection between her personal milestone and LSU’s recent draft momentum.. Johnson signaled the 25th LSU player to be selected in the WNBA Draft and the seventh since Coach Kim Mulkey took over the program. and she became the 26th player to get drafted with Mulkey as their college head coach.. It marked the fifth year in a row that LSU has had a player selected in the WNBA Draft.

By the time Johnson reaches the graduation stage. she won’t be stepping away from the sport she’s moving into—she’ll be balancing the meaning of an LSU degree with the reality of a rookie season already underway..
