Fantasy football managers will want to hear Mike LaFleur’s Jeremiyah Love Cardinals update

With the Arizona Cardinals taking down the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 1 on 26-14, fans and fantasy football managers are wondering how the usage of rookie running back Jeremiyah Love will progress throughout the season. As Love is preparing for the Cardinals’ Week 2 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks, head coach Mike LaFleur spoke about what people should expect from the star’s usage.

In the aforementioned Week 1 win for Arizona, Love would record 11 touches for 41 yards and his first NFL touchdown, though Tyler Allgeier logged 17 carries for 61 yards. LaFleur expressed Friday that an “expanded role” for Love is not necessarily in the works and that both running backs will “rotate.”

“I wouldn’t say the expanded role or anything like that,” LaFleur said, via Bo Brack. “I mean, his role was going to be what it was, I mean, they’re gonna rotate, like, they are. This is a long season; we have 16 more games guaranteed to us…It is our responsibility, and particularly my responsibility, to kind of notice that with certain position groups that do take a little bit of a beating. So I have no idea how many carries he’s going to get, roughly how many plays he’s going to get, but you never know. There’s a flow to it.”

Cardinals’ Mike LaFleur stresses going with the hot hand 

Despite the running back rotation for the Cardinals, LaFleur would stress that they won’t go away from the hot hand, comparing it to Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr not wanting to take out Stephen Curry if he’s on a roll.

“You’re not going to take the hot hand out. Sometimes that happens with backs,” LaFleur continued. “Sometimes you can give a back a ball, and it just works. And it might not even be a very good play, play design, might not even be blocked very well, but they’re just kind of in the flow of it. And the line feels that too…We’ll keep the hot hand in there, whoever that may be.”

At any rate, it remains to be seen how Love’s usage is this Sunday against Seattle.
