Falcons QB Michael Penix Jr.’s return sees him hit 3,000 career yards in record-setting fashion

Michael Penix Jr. is back in full force as he made franchise history in the Atlanta Falcons’ convincing 35-14 win over the Green Bay Packers on Thursday night.

Penix started the third season of his NFL career with the Falcons. He secured the starting job last year before tearing his ACL midway through 2025.

He made a full recovery as he regained his fitness throughout training camp. While he didn’t get the full clearance to play in Week 1, he got his chance to start in Week 3.

Penix certainly made the most of his opportunity. He completed 18 out of 25 passes for 256 yards and a touchdown and an interception. His efforts paved the way for him to achieve a career milestone and make franchise history, per reporter Will McFadden.

“Michael Penix Jr. has reached 3000 passing yards in fewer games than any other quarterback in Falcons history and has the most passing yards through 13 starts by a Falcons QB all-time,” McFadden wrote.
