Ex-Trump Voter Tells C-SPAN He Fell for Con

ex-Trump voter – A longtime Trump supporter who identified himself as Thomas, a three-time Trump voter from Hawaii, called into C-SPAN on Saturday to say he now regrets backing President Donald Trump. In a blunt message on “Washington Journal,” he said Trump has become “blatan

On a Saturday call to C-SPAN’s “Washington Journal,” a longtime Donald Trump supporter reached the point of “buyer’s remorse” and chose to say it out loud: he regretted his support for the president.

“Its hard for me to say this. but I think if I can open up about it in public that it might help others. ” Thomas. identified as a three-time Trump voter from Hawaii. began.. He described his shift as something that took time to admit. saying it was “hard” and that he took “a while” to express what he now believes.

Thomas told the host that he had come to understand “how somebody like Adolf Hitler was able to brainwash millions of people.” He said he once thought he would never see something like that again in his lifetime. and added. “I thought we got past that. but we don’t learn from history.” In his account. that belief was tied to his earlier willingness to accept Trump as “the real deal. ” even though he said he had doubts because he “knew enough about his business history to think otherwise.”

But, Thomas said, the decision turned when his confidence collapsed.. “Now I regret my support for him. and I should’ve known better. ” he said. characterizing the president as “a con man. a liar. doesn’t keep his promises.” He added that Trump is “in office all for himself. ” and said the president “doesn’t even try to hide his corruption anymore.”

When asked to explain who he believed Trump was targeting with his messaging. Thomas argued that the president is the “worst president we’ve ever had” and “the most corrupt president we’ve ever had. ” unless people “get all your information from what I call the ‘right-wing propaganda-for-profit. disinformation media industrial complex.’” He did not frame that as a minor disagreement.. He said the loss of faith came after a long commitment to believing Trump that he now believes was misplaced.

Thomas also described his break with the president as gradual rather than sudden.. “It has been a cumulative process. and it’s gotten so blatant now. ” he said. rejecting the idea that there was a single “straw that broke the camel’s back.” He pointed to repeated promises that. in his view. did not hold up—saying Trump had claimed. “He [said he was] going to lower prices on day one. he was going to do this on day one. only he could fix all this stuff.”

As he wrapped up, Thomas urged voters not to look away, telling Americans to “slow down Trump by holding him accountable.” He called for voting for “as many Democrats, whether you like ’em or not, just to get some balance back into our system of checks and balances.”

The relationship between his claims is laid out through his sequence of regret: he said he once believed Trump could be “the real deal. ” then described learning enough to doubt that belief. and later said promises about outcomes like lower prices became “blatant” enough that he concluded Trump is “a con man” who “doesn’t keep his promises.” That same chain leads directly to his voting message. urging people to counter Trump by supporting Democrats to restore checks and balances.
