Duncan Robinson rips Pistons’ Game 7 effort vs Cavs

Duncan Robinson was blunt after the Detroit Pistons’ season ended with a blowout loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 7 of the Eastern Semifinals, pointing to a lack of the mindset Detroit had relied on all season.

Duncan Robinson didn’t mince words after the Detroit Pistons’ season-ending blowout loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 7 of the Eastern Semifinals on Sunday night.

Robinson. completing his eighth NBA season and his first with Detroit. said the Pistons didn’t bring the right disposition for Game 7 and that it showed across the areas they had emphasized all year.. “I don’t want to be over-reactionary having not watched it … we didn’t come out with the right disposition for a Game 7 and that was apparent in all the areas we prided ourselves on this year. areas we thought we could compete with and win. we didn’t win those. ” Robinson said after the defeat.

The loss officially ended Detroit’s playoff run. The Pistons had already shown they could swing momentum, coming back from a 3-1 series deficit against the Orlando Magic in the first round, then pushing the Cavaliers to a full seven games in the semifinals.

Four Detroit players reached double figures in the Game 7 loss.. Robinson finished with 13 points on 4-of-7 shooting, including 3-of-5 from beyond the arc, and went 2-of-3 at the free-throw line.. Daniss Jenkins led the Pistons with 17 points and five assists.. Cade Cunningham added 13 points and five assists, while Caris LeVert scored 11 points and grabbed two rebounds.

There was a clear emotional contrast after all that progress: Detroit’s postseason had carried it from a 3-1 comeback over Orlando to a seventh-game showdown versus Cleveland, yet the Pistons’ run ended in a blowout where Robinson said they failed to play the way they believed they could.

Now, the Pistons head into the offseason with questions to answer and issues to resolve.. Detroit’s turnaround is tied to what came before the loss. including a 60-win campaign and the franchise’s first playoff series win since 2008.. But with championship expectations still out of reach. the message for summer work is direct: the team needs to make moves for the better.
