The estate of the late Dolly Parton has filed new court documents claiming her nephew and former security head, Bryan Seaver, is obstructing a legal battle by using barbed wire and signage to block process servers.
A process server arrived at the Nashville residence expecting to perform a routine task. Instead. they found the front entrance to the home of Bryan Seaver. the late Dolly Parton’s nephew and former head of security. fortified. According to a filing submitted Monday in Davidson County Chancery Court. the path to the front door was draped in barbed wire. with a “no-trespassing” sign prominently displayed in the yard.
The document claims the server attempted to deliver court papers three times, only to be met with these obstacles. She’s Alive LLC, the entity managing Parton’s business interests, argues that Seaver is intentionally avoiding service of process. The estate is now asking the court to deny his request for a deadline extension in the lawsuit. which centers on allegations that Seaver extorted and threatened the singer’s estate.
Parton died on Aug. 25 following a brief battle with cancer. She and her late husband. Carl Dean—who passed away last year—had no children. leaving behind a complex. multimillion-dollar empire that includes the Dollywood amusement park. The current legal fight follows a Sept. 23 ruling from a Tennessee judge. who granted the estate a temporary restraining order after finding that Seaver and his private security company posed a “present and continuing disruption and threat” to the organization.
The tension between the parties is stark. While the estate seeks to convert that temporary restraining order into a temporary injunction, Seaver maintains his innocence. He has previously characterized his firing as the result of “contrived threats” fabricated by the estate after they had allegedly agreed to retain his company’s services in perpetuity. In a statement provided on Sept. 23, Seaver claimed he was terminated just one week after those negotiations.
Seaver now faces a legal wall created by his own alleged actions and the court’s existing orders. When contacted via email on Tuesday regarding the recent filing. he stated that the ongoing restraining order prevents him from speaking publicly about the case. For now. the legal proceedings remain stalled at the doorstep. as the estate presses the court to bypass the hurdles they claim Seaver has placed to avoid facing the charges against him.
