ANAHEIM, Calif. — Roki Sasaki delivered seven sharp innings, allowing one run and striking out eight without issuing a walk, and the Los Angeles Dodgers closed the Freeway Series weekend with a 10-1 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday.

The right-hander scattered four hits while making what was described as the best start of his two-year major league career.. Sasaki set career highs in innings and strikeouts and needed 91 pitches to get through his outing at Angel Stadium. a performance that capped a rapid shift in his early major league story after a difficult start to his rookie season. a lengthy injury absence. and an improbable rise into effective playoff closer form in October.

Kyle Tucker supplied the damage with three hits and three runs batted in.. In the fourth inning. the Dodgers’ offense surged again when Shohei Ohtani and Andy Pages delivered two-run singles. part of a stretch that extended the Dodgers’ winning streak to five straight.. The margin told the larger story of the series as well: Los Angeles outscored the Angels by a combined 31-3 in the first Freeway Series matchup of the season between the two-time World Series champions and the team that holds the majors’ worst record.

Ohtani finished with three singles at his former home stadium, putting his recent production at eight hits and eight RBIs in his past four games. A slump earlier in the week was noted as the reason Los Angeles gave Ohtani two days off from hitting.

On the Angels side. Grayson Rodriguez made his debut after being acquired from Baltimore in the offseason. but he struggled early.. Working into the fourth inning, Rodriguez fell behind quickly, giving up seven runs and seven hits while issuing four walks.. Rodriguez had not pitched in the majors since July 2024 because of multiple injuries. including shoulder inflammation that sidelined him this spring.

Yoán Moncada provided the Angels’ only bright moment in the batting order, driving in a run with an RBI single. Still, the Angels’ loss kept their slide going, extending it to six straight.

The sequence of results matters to how the day played out: Sasaki’s seven-inning. no-walk effort kept the Dodgers in control. Tucker’s three-hit. three-RBI performance added early offense. and then Ohtani and Pages’ two-run singles in the fourth helped turn a manageable game into a rout.. With Los Angeles winning the streak and outscoring the Angels 31-3 across the series. the lopsided scoring started with pitching and stayed there.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto, listed at 3-3 with a 3.60 ERA, is scheduled to take the mound for World Series MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto in San Diego on Monday night as the Dodgers begin their first meeting of the season with the NL West rival Padres.

At Angel Stadium on Monday, Walbert Ureña (1-4, 3.29 ERA) will start to open a four-game series against the Athletics.
