DeForest Buckner makes sure everyone knows the Colts ‘got their a** whooped’ by Ravens
The Colts sustained a massive one-sided loss at the hands of the Ravens, which brought out a blunt DeForest Buckner response.
The Indianapolis Colts faced a first-time NFL head coach in Jesse Minter to open the 2026 season. Yet Minter’s Baltimore Ravens carved up a DeForest Buckner-led Colts defense Sunday. And the defensive tackle didn’t mince words following the 41-23 beatdown.
The veteran dropped a blunt admission after the defeat, letting it be known they “got their a** whooped.”
Baltimore may have new leadership in the form of the head coach. Yet the Ravens turned to a familiar tactic: Turning Lamar Jackson loose.
Jackson completed five of his first six passes to start the game. But racked up 101 yards immediately through the air. New Ravens offensive coordinator Declan Doyle even got Jackson running naked bootleg passes early to take better advantage of Jackson’s arm.

Buckner and the defense later saw vintage Jackson, on this uncanny scramble that flipped from sack to big rushing gain.

Worse for Buckner and the Colts: Jackson converted a first down while facing a third-and-16 scenario. Spelling a long afternoon for the Indianapolis defense.
So Sunday’s 18-point defeat marks the latest letdown for more than Buckner. But for head coach Shane Steichen, who’s already on the hot seat this season.
Steichen hasn’t produced an AFC South title, let alone a playoff contender, since his arrival as HC in 2023. His Colts teams have come close, fielding 9-8 and 8-9 marks during his tenure. But this week one abomination isn’t producing much confidence from the fanbase. The Colts even absorbed this beatdown with famed city NBA star for the Pacers Tyrese Haliburton leading the pregame festivities.
Indianapolis now will aim to avoid the 0-2 start against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday Night Football for Sept. 20.
