Cowboys DC Christian Parker: Joey Porter Jr. a “boundary-eraser” who can do a lot for us

Cowboys defensive coordinator Christian Parker wound up staying up later than he expected on Wednesday night.
That’s when Parker learned that the Cowboys were trading for cornerback Joey Porter Jr. and Parker said Thursday that it was a “good reason” to burn the midnight oil. Parker called Porter a “boundary-eraser” at corner and explained where that is going to help the Cowboys defense.
“A lot,” Parker said, via Jon Machota of TheAthletic.com. “When you have guys who can erase things in one-on-one matchups on the back side, you can do different things to manipulate coverage. You can add plus-ones to different areas of the field. You can add plus-ones in run defense. You don’t want to put guys on an island the whole game, but you can definitely kind of move some pieces around and kind of make up things better.”
The big question in Dallas now is when Porter will begin to make an impact on the defense. He took part in Thursday’s practice and Parker did not rule the newest Cowboy in or out for Sunday’s game against the Texans.
