With 14:09 remaining in the third quarter, Mbakwe’s helmet violently struck the knee of teammate Jordan Walker as both defenders converged to make a tackle.

The impact sent both players to the turf, but Mbakwe stayed down without moving, prompting medical personnel and trainers from the sideline to sprint onto the field.

Play was suspended for an extended period as emergency staff stabilized Mbakwe, carefully strapping him onto a backboard and stretcher.
