The Indiana Fever opened the doors for their first home win of the 2026 season on Sunday. taking down the Seattle Storm 89-78 behind a performance from Caitlin Clark that looked controlled from start to finish.. Clark finished with 21 points. 10 assists and seven rebounds in only 24 minutes. shooting 5-for-10 from the field. 2-for-4 from three-point range. and going a perfect 9-for-9 at the free-throw line.

After Indiana stumbled with efficiency through its first three games. Clark said the difference came down to patience and how she played within the offense.. “No reason to press.. Get my teammates involved.. Take what the defense gives me,” Clark said after the win.. “I thought I did a good job of getting to the line. so there’s probably no need to shoot a bunch of shots.”

It was more than just a hot shooting night.. The 24-year-old’s stat line produced her 21st career double-double. moving her past Erlana Larkins for fifth-most in Fever franchise history despite playing only 57 career games.. The same performance also marked her 12th career game with at least 20 points and 10 assists, extending her WNBA record.. Indiana also got a glimpse of how consistently Clark had been producing early in the season. with four straight games of 20 or more points and at least five assists—tied for the longest such streak to begin a season in league history.

Indiana set the tone early, launching into a 15-0 first-quarter run and taking a 32-19 lead after the opening period.. The Fever carried a 55-44 advantage into halftime thanks to Clark’s 17 first-half points.. Indiana then widened the gap in the third quarter as Kelsey Mitchell and Sophie Cunningham combined for 17 points to make it 77-58 entering the fourth.

Defensively, the Fever also arrived in a better place than in their earlier home showings.. After allowing 104 points in each of its first two home games. Indiana held Seattle to 35 percent shooting. limited the Storm frontcourt to 17 points. and controlled the paint 50-30.. Natisha Hiedeman led Seattle with 19 points. while rookie Flau’jae Johnson added 14 points and six rebounds in her fourth WNBA appearance.

Clark’s night connects the story of the Fever’s turnaround: after Indiana’s first three games brought efficiency issues for her. her most controlled offensive performance of the season came in a game where she stayed patient and emphasized getting to the line. and that steadier approach landed during a stretch that already included 17 first-half points. a 15-0 first-quarter run. and an eventual 77-58 lead going into the fourth.

Next up, the Fever welcome the Portland Fire on Wednesday for the third game of their four-game homestand.
