Chovy: Gen.G will keep form and beat T1

Chovy says – After Gen.G’s 2-0 win over BNK FearX at LCK’s 2026 regular season on July 14 at LoL Park in Jongno, ‘Chovy’ Jeong Ji-hoon said the team is happy with the performance, but remains focused on improving—not declaring anything “complete.” With momentum carrying Ge

Gen.G’s second-round push in the 2026 LCK regular season looked routine on paper—until it extended into something harder to ignore.. At LoL Park in Jongno on the 14th. the team beat BNK FearX 2-0. moving its streak to seven straight wins. reaching the 10-win mark. and tightening the gap on first-place Hanwha Life Esports.

After being named Player of the Match, ‘Chovy’ Jeong Ji-hoon talked through the win and what comes next. “I’m happy we secured the 2-0 win today,” he said. “I’m also satisfied because there were many aspects of our performance that went well.”

Asked how close Gen.G is to being “complete” or perfected, ‘Chovy’ didn’t lean into the buzz. “It’s hard to evaluate the level of completion,” he said. “I’m just focused on continuing to play well and constantly looking for ways to improve further.”

That improvement mindset showed up in how he explained Game 1’s champion choice.. In the match, Gen.G blind-picked Cassiopeia while BNK FearX kept their mid pick hidden until the end.. “I don’t think it’s quite a ‘no-counter’ pick,” ‘Chovy’ said.. “It just seemed like the opponent wanted to give me the mid pick and take Cassiopeia for themselves. so I decided to take her first.” He added that. in his view. “most mid-lane champions are viable as blind picks these days.”

His Game 1 pentakill also came with nuance.. When asked whether he felt he’d get it after landing a quadrakill. ‘Chovy’ answered with restraint: “I thought about it. but it didn’t feel like much.” He said he doesn’t measure excitement purely by kill counts.. “Honestly, I think a ‘true’ pentakill is one where you clean up a fight in a dramatic situation.. I don’t get much of a thrill from just picking up all the kills during a team fight.. Next time, I’ll try to get a pentakill in a more exciting moment.”

In Game 2, ‘Chovy’ described how his Ryze itemization reflected in-fight priorities.. He built Rocketbelt and Zhonya’s Hourglass after Rod of Ages and Archangel’s Staff.. “Personally. there have been times when I’ve pressed active items during a fight. only to find they hadn’t actually activated once the fight was over. ” he said.. He also connected the choice to Ryze’s gameplay realities.. “Ryze is naturally strong when he can stick to targets. but there are many situations where he can’t. so I’ve been building Rocketbelt.”

When the conversation shifted to how Gen.G organizes itself during matches. ‘Chovy’ pointed to communication. but not in the form of constant hype.. “We mostly make calls to share the current situation and set objectives,” he said.. “We don’t really do much ‘encouragement. ’ but if someone makes a good play. we’ll say something like. ‘Oh. nice play. ’ just to acknowledge it.”

With the win completed and the streak now at seven, the next pressure point lands quickly: the “Saturday Showdown” against T1 this Saturday. “We’re showing good form right now, and I’ll make sure we maintain it so we can win our next match as well,” ‘Chovy’ said.

He also returned to the people who showed up at the venue.. “Thanks to the fans who always come out to support us. we’re able to work hard. and it serves as the driving force that makes us want to keep showing our best. ” he said.. “I’m always grateful, and I’ll continue to show you great performances.”
