Tonight marks Mahomes first game back since suffering a torn ACL last December in a Week 15 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.
In addition to the return of Mahomes, the Kansas City offense will also benefit from the addition of Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III. The former Seattle Seahawks running back joined the Chiefs in free agency.
Broncos quarterback Bo Nix is also coming back from a season-ending injury. Nix broke his right ankle in Denver’s AFC Championship game loss to the New England Patriots.
Chiefs vs. Broncos AFC West rivalry
Kansas City leads the all-time series, 73-59. Denver has won four of the last five matchups. The Broncos dethroned the Chiefs in the AFC West last season, ending Kansas City’s nine-year streak.
Denver was also the last team to win the AFC West (in 2015) before the Chiefs’ reign began. The Broncos and the Chiefs are the only two teams to win an AFC West title since 2010.
