Patrick Mahomes is feeling great about the Chiefs, especially when they started the season 2-0 and are jelling well behind the scenes.
The Kansas City Chiefs have started the 2026 NFL campaign on a strong note, winning their first two games of the season, including a 33-30 victory over the Indianapolis Colts in Week 2. While the Chiefs did not find their contest against the Colts to be as easy as their clash against the Denver Broncos in Week 1 was, it was very promising for the team to see quarterback Patrick Mahomes be close to being at his best once more.
It looks like the Chiefs had Mahomes take it easy in Week 1 when he threw just 15-27 for 184 yards. But Kansas City needed him to be better against a desperate Colts team that entered the night having lost eight straight games dating back to last season, and Mahomes answered the call. He completed 32 of his 47 passes on the night for a total of 382 yards, which is the most he’s thrown in a single game since 2023.
But the most important thing Mahomes has noticed in these first two wins is that the Chiefs are working together as a unit, having supreme belief in each other which echoes throughout the whole locker room.
“I feel like this team is close. I feel like we’ve all come together knowing that we have to show who we are, who we think we can be. But you can tell guys truly care about each other. Offense, defense. Whenever something bad happens on defense, the offense is like, ‘We’re gonna pick you up.’ And vice versa,” Mahomes said in his postgame presser, via KC Sports Network on X.
“That’s cool whenever you have a team like that. And we’ll grow as the season goes on.”

The Chiefs finished with a 6-11 record last season, a disappointing output from a team that went all the way to the Super Bowl five times since 2019, winning three of them. But as long as Mahomes is at the helm, no one can truly count Kansas City out — not when they’re jelling this well already behind the scenes.
