For nearly an hour on the staircase landing. the house in Katara Hills was a scene of frantic movement—then silence. New CCTV footage now captures the moments before 33-year-old Twisha Sharma was later found unconscious. adding another hard-to-ignore detail to a case already torn between accusations of dowry harassment and sharply contrasting counterclaims.
The footage, shared by Press Trust of India, shows Twisha walking alone toward the terrace of the home in Bhopal shortly before she was seen unconscious on the staircase landing. The incident took place at the family’s residence in the Katara Hills area on May 12.
In the video timeline, Twisha is seen climbing the staircase toward the terrace at around 7:20 a.m. She appears alone. Nearly an hour later, three men—reported to be her husband Samarth Singh, a neighbour and a househelp—are seen trying to administer CPR on the staircase landing.
When the attempts appear unsuccessful, the men are later seen carrying Twisha downstairs to a lower floor.
The recording also shows Twisha’s mother-in-law, Giribala Singh, walking into a room before coming out moments later and heading downstairs, according to the footage described.
Samarth Singh, who works as a lawyer, is currently absconding, police said. Authorities have announced a reward of Rs 10,000 for information leading to him.
The case has also drawn attention for its timeline of how the couple met and married. Investigators said Twisha and Samarth met through a dating app in 2024 and married in December 2025.
But while the CCTV sequence focuses on what happened inside the house, the dispute outside it has grown louder.
On Monday, Giribala Singh publicly rejected allegations of dowry harassment and murder leveled by Twisha’s family. The retired judge claimed Twisha had a history of psychiatric treatment and substance abuse.
Giribala Singh alleged that Twisha had been receiving psychiatric counselling and was prescribed medicines “given to a schizophrenic patient”. She also claimed Twisha admitted to consuming “large quantities of marijuana during pregnancy”.
Her statements extended beyond medical claims. Giribala Singh accused Twisha’s parents of pushing her into the glamour industry at a young age and later distancing themselves from her. She maintained that her side had tried to save Twisha after finding her hanging.
Police. meanwhile. said the Special Investigation Team is focusing on the FIR sections connected to the allegations surrounding Twisha’s alleged drug use as well as the broader allegations tied to the case. Assistant Commissioner of Police Rajneesh Kashyap told PTI that the SIT was examining the matter strictly under the sections mentioned in the FIR.
Those include allegations related to dowry harassment and abetment to suicide.
The CCTV footage is now expected to play a central role in how investigators compare the physical timeline inside the home with statements made by people in the house. The visuals reportedly establish a sequence of events inside the staircase area over nearly an hour before Twisha was declared dead. Investigators are expected to examine whether the footage matches what family members and others described. even though the video does not capture what happened on the terrace.
The relationship that ended in marriage also drew widespread attention online after reports that Twisha and Samarth first connected through a dating app in 2024—less than two years before they married in December 2025.
With the case now shaped by sharply opposing narratives. investigators are expected to look closely at medical documents. digital communication records. and CCTV footage as part of the probe. Police said the investigation will proceed on the basis of evidence collected under the FIR sections already invoked.
