Cat Survives Ten-Story Fall as Angell Treats Injuries

ten-story fall – A one-year-old cat named Mazy is recovering after a reported nearly ten-story plunge, requiring surgery and raising thousands in medical costs.
A young cat’s survival after a reported nearly ten-story fall has set off a race against time at a Boston animal hospital, where staff say the animal is now undergoing treatment for serious, life-threatening injuries.
The nonprofit-run Angell Animal Medical Center in Boston said it is treating Mazy. a one-year-old cat surrendered to the organization after the pet was allegedly injured in what the report described as a ten-story fall from a Greater Boston area apartment building.. According to the medical center. the case began when a person brought the cat in on Monday. after the alleged incident.
The timeline of how Mazy was hurt was described in the organization’s posting: three days before the surrender. the cat was reportedly dropped from a “15th floor window” onto a “5th-floor landing. ” resulting in a nearly ten-story plunge.. Investigators with the animal nonprofit are still looking into what caused the fall.
Officials said Mazy arrived at the hospital without having received medical attention prior to being taken to Angell. The medical center also said the cat’s owner relinquished Mazy because they could not provide what staff believed was the proper level of medical care for the injuries.
Doctors reported that Mazy’s injuries are extensive. The cat has two broken paws that were described as “fractured completely away from the bones” in her forearms, along with a collapsed lung. Staff said the extent of the trauma is the kind of scenario that requires prompt surgical intervention.
Mazy is expected to have surgery to repair both front legs. Despite the severity of her condition, the nonprofit said the cat has continued to show signs of resilience and affection—rolling over for belly rubs even after the injuries.
In a description shared with Boston.com. a representative connected to the nonprofit said staff found Mazy to be “very sweet and affectionate.” The report also noted that after the fall. the cat was moving around in an unusual way. standing upright on her back legs while her front legs were hoisted in the air.
Because of the suspected collapse and fractures, the case has also carried significant medical costs. The nonprofit said the cat’s car is expected to cost up to $15,000, and it is accepting donations to help cover the expenses tied to the emergency treatment and surgery.
Dr.. Kiko Bracker. Director of Emergency and Critical Care at MSPCA-Angell. said cats with similar injuries who receive surgical treatment typically do well once they recover. though they may walk differently afterward.. Bracker added that if Mazy follows that pattern. staff are confident the cat can overcome the aftereffects. pointing to the animal’s demonstrated resilience.
Beyond this single case. the story underscores the challenges that emergency injuries pose for pet owners and the value—when available—of specialized trauma care.. Falls from windows and balconies remain a major source of sudden. severe harm to animals. and organizations like Angell often stress the need for immediate veterinary evaluation when pets suffer major trauma.
For the public. the fundraising element highlights how quickly veterinary emergencies can escalate financially. particularly when surgery and critical care are required.. The nonprofit’s appeal suggests staff are working not only to stabilize Mazy but also to provide the longer repair process needed for her broken forearms and collapsed lung.

cats always land on their feet thats just science
wait so the owner just dropped the cat and then gave it away three days later without even going to the vet?? that is not okay at all. like how do you just sit there for three whole days knowing your cat is hurt like that. something is really wrong with that person.
i read this and immediately thought about my cat Mr. Buttons who fell off the kitchen counter last year and i panicked so bad i drove him to the vet at midnight. turned out he was totally fine but still. i cannot imagine just leaving an animal like that for days and not doing anything. and the broken paws thing made me feel sick honestly. poor little thing. i hope angell gets enough donations because those surgeries are not cheap i know that much from experience with my own animals.
honestly this whole thing sounds suspicious to me and i think people are not asking the right questions here. they said the cat was dropped from the 15th floor onto the 5th floor landing which is like ten stories obviously but the article keeps saying nearly ten stories which doesnt make sense because ten minus five is five not ten so either the reporter cant do math or something else is going on. also why did it take three days to bring the cat in that is the real question nobody is talking about. and now theyre raising thousands of dollars for surgery which i get but who is actually verifying where that money goes because these nonprofits sometimes you just dont know. im not saying anything bad i just think people need to think a little more before donating to stuff they read online. anyway hope the cat is okay that part is genuinely sad.
