When the Canucks are at home, defenceman Filip Hronek and forwards Linus Karlsson and Drew O’Connor will serve as alternate captains, while defenceman Zeev Buium and forwards Brock Boeser and Elias Pettersson will wear the ‘A’ on the road.
Of the group, Boeser is the longest-serving Canuck, about to begin his 10th season with the team after being drafted 23rd overall in 2015.
He has served as an alternate captain since the 2024-25 season. Meanwhile, Pettersson wore an ‘A’ starting in 2023-24, and Hronek has since last season.
Vancouver is set to begin the season without anyone wearing the ‘C’ on their jersey, a role vacant since captain and star defenceman Quinn Hughes was traded to the Minnesota Wild in December 2025.
Buium was one of the players the Canucks received from the Wild in exchange for Hughes, and the 20-year-old was signed to an eight-year contract extension worth $75.04 million at the beginning of September.
Buium, O’Connor and Karlsson are taking on leadership roles for the first time.
