Bulk Carrier Attacked Off Iran Strait of Hormuz, Misryoum Reports

A bulk carrier was reportedly attacked by small craft near the Strait of Hormuz, with the crew confirmed safe and no environmental impact reported, Misryoum says.
A bulk carrier was reportedly targeted by multiple small craft off Iran near the Strait of Hormuz, and Misryoum says the crew is safe.
Misryoum reports that the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said the incident occurred about 11 nautical miles west of Sirik, Iran. The vessel was described as northbound and unnamed, while UKMTO added that all crew were “reported safe.”
UKMTO also stated that there was “no environmental impact reported,” a detail that helps clarify how serious the incident’s aftermath appeared to be at the time of reporting.
The Strait of Hormuz is a chokepoint for global shipping, and Misryoum notes it has remained at the center of regional tensions. Sirik sits on the Iranian side of the waterway, where disruptions can quickly affect energy and trade flows.
Meanwhile, Misryoum says the situation has continued alongside broader maritime restrictions. The United States has imposed counter-blockade measures on Iranian ports, according to the reporting, with enforcement that extends beyond any single incident.
In this context, an attack involving small craft underscores how quickly shipping routes can become exposed, even when crews are reported safe. It also highlights why monitoring agencies pay close attention to both vessel safety and wider operational disruptions.
Misryoum adds that US Central Command (CENTCOM) said a further group of merchant ships was redirected to comply with the blockade. CENTCOM reported that the number of vessels redirected had reached 49 as of the day of the update.
For traders and shipping operators, these developments matter because enforcement actions can alter routes and schedules, even when no damage or pollution is initially reported. Misryoum’s account also reflects how maritime security concerns are now moving in parallel with trade restrictions.
