Buccaneers sign four rookie minicamp tryout players
Tampa Bay added four players—Kadarius Calloway, Scott Daly, Yasir Holmes and Dean Patterson IV—after they impressed at rookie minicamp.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers moved quickly after their rookie minicamp, signing four players who had earned a chance to compete last weekend.
On Monday, the team announced the signings of running back Kadarius Calloway, long snapper Scott Daly, outside linebacker Yasir Holmes and wide receiver Dean Patterson IV. Each of them was a tryout participant at the Bucs’ rookie mini-camp in Tampa Bay.
In parallel roster moves. the Buccaneers waived long snapper Wesley Brown. wide receiver Noah Short. outside linebacker Benton Whitley and running back Owen Wright.. The simultaneous additions and releases reflect a common offseason process: teams evaluate tryouts. then adjust the depth chart and special teams group accordingly.
The Bucs also processed a separate transaction on Monday, with the club’s claim of linebacker John Bullock off waivers from the Colts moving forward. Bullock’s path to Tampa Bay underscores how teams continue to look beyond internal tryouts as they shape competition for training camp roles.
Calloway’s football journey includes stops at New Mexico State University (2025), the University of California (2024) and Old Dominion University (2023).. Across 32 career games. he totaled 1. 185 rushing yards and nine rushing touchdowns on 229 carries. while also contributing as a receiver with 35 catches for 223 yards and one score.
Daly entered the NFL as a college free agent with the Cowboys in 2018. and the Buccaneers have now brought in a veteran long snapper who has logged regular-season experience across multiple franchises.. A six-year veteran. Daly has appeared in 76 career games between the Lions (2021-23) and Bears (2024-25). recording nine special teams tackles and two fumble recoveries.
Holmes, who comes from Tarleton State University (2025) and Frostburg State University (2021-24), brings a defensive production profile built on tackling and pressure. In 46 career games, he recorded 188 tackles, 22 sacks, and forced three fumbles, adding one fumble recovery.
Patterson IV adds receiving depth to Tampa Bay after his collegiate career at Georgia Tech (2025) and Florida International University (2022-24).. He appeared in 52 career games. catching 106 passes for 1. 556 yards and 10 touchdowns. numbers that indicate both reliability and the ability to impact the passing game.
For Tampa Bay. the significance of signing these four tryout players is that it turns what was a weekend evaluation into actual roster opportunities.. Rookie minicamps are designed to test readiness—whether that’s route fundamentals. special teams execution or the ability to translate college roles to pro-level expectations—and Monday’s decisions suggest the staff saw enough to keep them in the organization.
At the same time. the waivers of Brown. Short. Whitley and Wright show how quickly NFL rosters can change once a team decides who it wants to build around.. With spots limited and camp approaching. even promising players can be moved out if a team prefers the upside or fit of others who are already in the building.
The Bullock claim adds another layer to the picture, highlighting that the Bucs are not relying solely on their own rookie minicamp pipeline. By acting on waivers, Tampa Bay can quickly bring in additional competition at linebacker and broaden the options available for preseason evaluation.
