Braves star Drake Baldwin made franchise history not seen since 2003 with his 25th home run in an 8-3 win vs. the Marlins.
Atlanta Braves catcher Drake Baldwin reached a major milestone Saturday in an 8-3 win over the Miami Marlins. The slugging backstop went 3-for-5, including a two-run home run and two singles, becoming the first Braves catcher since 2003 to reach at least 25 home runs in a season.
Through 549 at-bats this season, Baldwin is batting .284 with 25 home runs, 79 RBIs, 55 walks and 85 runs scored. His recent production has remained consistent, with multiple hits in seven of his last 11 games and five extra-base hits during that period.
Saturday’s performance came as Atlanta improved to 94-67 and secured a Wild Card Series that will begin Tuesday at home. Baldwin’s homer was one of two hit by the Braves, with Dominic Smith also going deep in the victory. Michael Harris II led Atlanta’s offense with two doubles and two singles, while the Braves also received two scoreless relief innings from Victor Mederos, who improved to 6-1.

Baldwin entered the 2026 season after winning National League Rookie of the Year in 2025. He made his MLB debut that year after Atlanta selected his contract on March 21, and finished his rookie campaign with a .274/.341/.469 slash line, 19 home runs and 80 RBIs.
The Braves originally selected Baldwin in the third round, 96th overall, of the 2022 MLB Draft out of Missouri State University. After progressing through Atlanta’s minor-league system, he reached the majors in 2025 and earned his first All-Star selection in 2026.
