Arjun Nimmala’s climb through the minor-league ranks just got another step clearer, with the Toronto Blue Jays set to promote their prospect to Double-A.
According to Misryoum, the Blue Jays will advance Nimmala to New Hampshire. He is expected to be active on Tuesday as Toronto continues to test how the 20-year-old shortstop handles higher-level pitching.
Meanwhile, the organization isn’t stopping at one promotion. Misryoum reports that right-handed pitching prospects Nolan Perry and Austin Cates are also moving up, with Cates headed to Double-A and Perry advancing to High-A.
This matters because promotions like these often signal that a player’s development is trending in the right direction, even if the broader season still carries plenty of adjustments and learning.
Nimmala began the year in High-A Vancouver, where he produced an .845 OPS across 23 games.. His profile included extra-base pop, with nine doubles and four home runs, while also contributing 20 RBIs.. There were challenges later on.. Misryoum notes that Nimmala’s production dipped in the second half of the season after a strong stretch earlier on. including a noticeable drop in batting line and long-ball output.. Still. the Blue Jays saw enough promise to bring him into big-league spring training as a non-roster invite. where he appeared in 16 games and showed patience at the plate.
