Bill Belichick didn’t mince words when he revisited the CBS News interview that sparked an uproar last year.
On Fox News’ podcast “Hang Out with Sean Hannity. ” the former New England Patriots coach said he “couldn’t believe” the treatment he received. arguing that the interview was deceptively edited.. He pointed to what he described as a wider pattern of editing and interview-process problems across networks. then zeroed in on what happened in his own sit-down.
“I thought that the interview I had with them was done very deceptively,” Belichick said. He added that he had asked for the transcript and said CBS would not provide it. Belichick said he didn’t understand the policy and also said CBS had done similar things “with others.”
Belichick’s complaint wasn’t only about how the interview aired—it was about what he says that approach undermined. He said he was “kind of confused” about some of what CBS claims it stands for, because he believes the network hasn’t “live[d] up to the trust that they talk about.”
The CBS interview on “CBS Sunday Morning” went viral after Jordon Hudson. Belichick’s girlfriend. intervened during the conversation and shut down a line of questioning about how she met the coach.. The interview also returned to a separate flashpoint from Belichick’s NFL past. Later in the same CBS conversation, Belichick addressed the snub from the Pro Football Hall of Fame. His absence from the honor in his first year of eligibility was a shock to many across the league and beyond.
When asked about the Hall of Fame situation. Belichick said his focus has been on his current work at the University of North Carolina.. “Honestly. I’ve been very focused on my job at the University of North Carolina and the players and the university there. ” he said.. He continued: “So, you know, whatever happens, happens.. But I’m proud of what we accomplished as teams at New England and certainly at the Giants. and proud of those relationships.. So that’s what matters most.”
Belichick also acknowledged support for his candidacy. He said it was “great to hear” support from people including Tom Brady and President Trump, and he said he was appreciative of comments made “from so many different fields— not just football, but many others.”
In the middle of his concerns about CBS, Belichick’s message carried a clear through-line: he wants the full record. He has demanded the transcript he says CBS won’t release—turning the broadcast dispute into something much larger than a single viral clip.

Wait so CBS won’t give the transcript? That seems shady.
I didn’t even know Belichick was dating her, and now it’s like a whole soap opera. If he says it was edited deceptively then why not just release everything?
Transcript or not, the whole UNC thing is already messy. I feel like CBS just cuts stuff to make the host look smarter, not because it’s “deceptive” like he’s claiming. Also he’s always been kind of weird about media anyway.
This is why I don’t trust any news network. If he’s demanding the full transcript then it’s because they messed with the context, period. And the girlfriend interrupting makes it sound like she knew what they were going to ask, so… yeah. CBS should’ve been able to hand that over.
