Atlas Power Partners Acquires Maryland Generator Firm Boyland Electric

Atlas Power Partners announced the acquisition of Boyland Electric, a top-rated generator dealer and electrical services contractor based in Laytonsville, Maryland. The agreement marks Atlas’s third portfolio company and its first expansion into the Mid-Atlantic region, extending its operational footprint across Maryland, Washington, D.C., and Virginia.
Founder Doug Boyland will continue to lead Boyland Electric as president following the transaction. Established in 1990, the company operates as a Generac Premier Dealer and Kohler Dealer, offering 24/7 electrical services alongside residential and commercial generator installations and maintenance.
“Boyland immediately stood out for their reputation, efficiency and straightforward style with customers,” said David Fischer, chief executive officer of Atlas Power Partners. “No whiz-bang sales sizzle, just extremely high-quality work. It really fits what we’re building with Atlas. A network of the best companies in our business.”

Fischer criticized parts of the broader backup power sector for relying on high-pressure sales tactics and inconsistent installations, positioning Atlas as an alternative focused on transparent pricing and reliable service. “Three partners in, I’ve never been more excited about where Atlas is headed,” he added.
For Boyland Electric, the partnership provides structural backing designed to accelerate growth. “We can grow that much faster with their support on hiring, back-office systems, and expansion,” said Doug Boyland. “What stays the same is our commitment to doing the quality work we’ve always done.”
Carole Boyland, co-owner of the Maryland company, emphasized the internal benefits for staff. “Above all, we’re proud of the dedication and commitment our employees have shown us,” she said. “This means more growth and more opportunity for them: room to advance, more training, and the chance to teach other technicians to do installations our way.”

Boyland Electric joins a growing roster that previously included two Florida-based businesses. Headquartered in New York City and formed in 2025, Atlas Power Partners is backed by Sherman Street Capital, having been co-founded by Danny Baker and Grant Perelman. The platform established its initial presence in Florida through partnerships with Always On Generators in Southwest Florida in 2025 and Trademark Electric in North Central Florida in 2026.
Always On Generators, co-led by William Hankins and Eric Patterson from locations in Naples and Fort Myers, specializes in standby power for Southwest Florida’s hurricane-vulnerable market as a Generac PowerPro Prestige Dealer and Kohler Dealer. Trademark Electric, led by president Chris Shea out of Ocala, operates as a leading Generac PowerPro Prestige Dealer across North Central Florida.
All three companies within the Atlas network offer both Generac and Kohler generators, combining installation with maintenance services. Across its entire platform, Atlas-affiliated companies collectively install more than 1,000 generators annually and service upwards of 20,000 systems. Atlas leadership indicated that the platform continues to seek partnerships with leading residential generator and electrical services companies nationwide.
