Arnott’s Shapes, the Australian oven-baked crackers first popularised in the 1950s, have launched in the UK for the first time, with three flavours now stocked by Waitrose, Morrisons and Ocado at £2.50 a box.
Shoppers across the UK are getting their hands on a new Australian snack after Arnott’s Shapes launched on supermarket shelves for the first time.
The crackers, which have been popular in Australia since the 1950s, are arriving after the brand brought Tim Tams to Britain last year. This time, the focus is on something savoury: three flavours of Arnott’s Shapes are available now.
Arnott’s Shapes sell in huge numbers in Australia, with more than 53 million packs sold in a year.. In the UK. shoppers can choose from oven-baked chicken. barbecue and pizza varieties. each described by the company in distinctive terms.. The chicken flavour is listed as ‘mouth-watering and lightly salted’ and features a uniquely crimped cracker.. The barbecue option comes with a ‘herby’, ‘rich’ and ‘tangy’ tomato seasoning.
The pizza flavour is said to be inspired by the classic dish, with ‘cheese and tomato flavour’ on a crispy base.
The crackers will be stocked across the UK in Waitrose, Morrisons and Ocado, priced at £2.50 per box.
The rollout also comes after Arnott’s Shapes UK shared a video on social media announcing the overseas launch. with the company saying: “It’s official. we’re on route to the UK.” Reaction online was quick. with one individual commenting “Can’t wait.” Another added “Yay. ” while a third wrote: “We love shapes.”
The pattern of the brand’s expansion is straightforward from the timing alone: Tim Tams arrived in Britain last year, and Arnott’s Group has now moved to bring more popular products over, this time switching from sweet to savoury with Arnott’s Shapes available across major retailers.
Jenni Dill, chief growth officer at The Arnott’s Group, said: “With warmer weather just around the corner, we knew it was the perfect time for us to introduce a new snack for Brits to enjoy.”
