Apple Watch Modular face gets simpler for watchOS 27

Apple is testing a simplified Modular Ultra watch face for watchOS 27, designed to fit more neatly on standard Apple Watch models.
Apple Watch watch faces are evolving again, and one change in watchOS 27 could make a familiar design feel far more at home on smaller displays.
Within the upcoming watchOS 27 update, Apple is reportedly testing new faces, including a revamped version of the Modular Ultra style.. In this context. Misryoum notes that the goal appears to be adapting a layout originally built for the Apple Watch Ultra to work cleanly on other. smaller Apple Watch models.
The redesigned approach keeps the bold. large clock presence that defines the Modular Ultra look. but it dials back several of the elements that make the face dense on the Ultra-sized canvas.. Apple is said to be removing the large central complication area. dropping the row of smaller complications that sits above the time. and simplifying the surrounding bezel-style information.
This matters because watch faces are as much about readability as they are about features. A less information-heavy layout can make quick glances easier, while still preserving the overall “modular” personality that people expect from the design.
In the reported configuration. the top portion of the display becomes the main focal point for the time. while a lower section continues to show smaller complications.. That means the watch face shifts from a highly segmented dashboard toward a cleaner. more streamlined composition that should translate better to standard models.
Meanwhile, watchOS 27 is not the only place where new customization options are expected. As Misryoum understands it, Apple is also preparing a Pride Luminance watch face as part of its Pride collection with the watchOS 26.5 rollout.
From an everyday perspective. these kinds of adjustments are a reminder that Apple’s watch experience is increasingly shaped by how software layouts respond to different hardware sizes..
