The diversity of settings in Apple TV’s sci-fi shows is one of the biggest allures of its stories. From space expeditions on shows like For All Mankind to underground survival thrillers like Silo, Apple has proven it can bring abstract and difficult concepts to the small screen. Other shows like Foundation and Severance have shown just how far the streamer can go with mind-bending concepts and realities. That’s why Apple TV’s adaptation of what was once an unfilmable story is highly anticipated.
Like many other Apple TV shows, this one is also based on a book that was published over forty years ago. Attempts to adapt it for the big screen fell apart partly because the technology wasn’t advanced enough to handle a mindscape series set in rapidly changing realities. But four decades after William Gibson‘s novel Neuromancer was published, technology has advanced enough, and the story is now coming to the small screen as a 10-episode thriller.
In the cyberpunk thriller, Callum Turner plays Case, a damaged, top-rung super-hacker. He is thrust into a web of digital espionage and crime with his partner Molly (Briana Middleton), a razor-girl assassin. Together they pull off a heist on a corporate dynasty with untold secrets. Graham Roland (Dark Winds) and JD Dillard (Stray) created the series for television; Roland serves as showrunner and executive producer, while Dillard directs the first three episodes and serves as executive producer. Other main cast members include Mark Strong (Armitage), Joseph Lee (Hideo), Peter Sarsgaard (John Ashpool), and Clémence Poésy (Marie-France Tessier). The first two episodes of Neuromancer premiere on Friday, January 22, 2027.

What Else Is Coming to Apple TV Next Year?
While we’re still over three months away from the new year, Apple TV’s release schedule for the coming year is already taking shape. Neuromancer is the only new series scheduled to premiere in January. Sometime later in spring, Jessica Chastain‘s long-delayed crime thriller The Savant finally premieres. The series explores domestic terror as the internet forms a new medium for like-minded individuals to meet. Meanwhile, answers arrive in summer when the final season of Silo premieres on July 9. Can Juliette Nichols (Rebecca Ferguson) and silo 18 do the impossible and topple silo 1? The only film set for next year is Snoopy Unleashed, an animated kids film that follows Charlie Brown and the Peanut gang as they search for Snoopy after he runs away from home.
