Apple AI lawsuit: iPhone owners may get up to $95

Apple AI – Misryoum reports a $250 million Apple settlement could trigger payouts of up to $95 for eligible iPhone owners over disputed AI marketing claims.
A potential Apple payout tied to AI marketing claims could put cash back into the pockets of some iPhone owners, with payments rising as high as $95.
The development comes after Misryoum reported that Apple reached a $250 million settlement in a class-action case alleging false advertising about artificial intelligence capabilities.. The dispute centers on how Apple promoted “Apple Intelligence” and highlighted new Siri features for the iPhone 16. alongside software updates released during 2024.
Under the proposed deal. iPhone buyers in the United States who qualify would receive a baseline payment of at least $25 per device. with the amount potentially increasing to $95 depending on how additional claims are filed and other factors.. If a judge approves the settlement, Misryoum notes it would rank among Apple’s larger consumer settlements.
A key detail for eligibility is the device window: the settlement would cover roughly 37 million units purchased in the U.S. between June 10, 2024 and March 29, 2025. Misryoum reports that this includes all iPhone 16 models, as well as the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.
Insight: Even when payouts are capped, these cases can influence how tech companies communicate AI capabilities, especially when marketing targets features that consumers expect immediately.
The class-action paperwork also indicates that claim instructions would be sent to consumers through email or mail. directing them to file on a settlement website.. Misryoum adds that the lawsuit argued buyers were misled into purchasing devices based on AI features that were not yet available as advertised.
In this context, the broader pressure facing Apple’s AI strategy is hard to ignore. Misryoum reports that rivals have moved faster with AI functionality on their own devices, while Apple has continued positioning its assistant improvements as an ongoing effort.
Insight: For markets, AI-related litigation is more than consumer reimbursement. It can shape trust, branding, and future product rollouts, particularly when software timing becomes part of consumer expectations.
