Apple trims high-end Mac mini and Mac Studio RAM options

Misryoum reports Apple removed several high-end RAM configurations for Mac mini and Mac Studio, pointing to ongoing memory supply pressure.
Apple is quietly shrinking the most memory-heavy Mac configurations, leaving fewer high-end RAM choices for both the Mac mini and Mac Studio.
In this latest round of lineup adjustments. Misryoum reports Apple has pulled additional top-tier memory options as the industry continues to grapple with expensive and constrained RAM supply.. The change follows earlier removals, including the 512GB memory option for the Mac Studio, which disappeared in March.
For the Mac Studio. Misryoum notes that the M3 Ultra model previously offered a wider spread of memory options. including a 256GB configuration alongside 96GB.. That 256GB option is no longer shown, with the M3 Ultra now listing only the 96GB memory option.. A similar pattern has also appeared for the M4 Max Mac Studio. where the 128GB capacity no longer appears in the available configurations.
This kind of pruning matters because it changes what buyers can spec at checkout, not just what’s currently shipping. For customers trying to plan upgrades, these gaps can force higher starting points or longer waits.
Meanwhile, the Mac mini is also seeing fewer memory configurations.. Misryoum reports that shoppers considering Mac mini models built with M4 Pro chips have lost the 64GB unified memory option. leaving 24GB and 48GB as the remaining choices.. Misryoum also highlights that this is not the first Mac mini change within the month. as another higher-capacity option was removed earlier.
The broader takeaway is that Apple’s product design choices are beginning to reflect the same memory realities hitting the wider market.. Even if the company has historically managed component pressure better than many rivals. Misryoum says that pressure ultimately makes its way into available configurations.
At the same time, Misryoum reports that Apple has signaled that memory pricing and availability issues are affecting its business performance. The company’s guidance indicated that the impact would become more noticeable in the months ahead, and that future quarters could see additional effects.
For consumers, that means the “best” configuration may no longer be the same as it was even a few weeks ago. Misryoum suggests keeping an eye on configuration changes when buying a new Mac, especially if your workflow depends on larger memory sizes.
