Angry Trump Voter Does Not Mince Words When Asked If America Is ‘Great Again’

Hey, if an outlet is trying to gauge how everyday Americans feel about the current state of the nation, a gas station isn’t a bad place to look.

MS NOW did exactly that Monday by hitting up the pumps in Clewiston, Florida, where they spoke to Penny Lee, a woman who said she voted for Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election.

“I’m pissed off about the gas, the food prices, everything. It’s affected everything,” she said, adding that Americans should “feel sorry for the truck drivers that are trying to make a living.”

Lee was then asked whether she regretted her vote for Trump. “Yeah,” she immediately shot back.

After pausing for a bit, she added: “A lot of people I believe are.” Asked why, she had a simple explanation: “He tells you one thing and does just the opposite.”

Finally, when asked whether the U.S. was really “great again” under Trump, Lee did not mince her words. “No, it’s not,” she said. “They’ve run it to the ground, and that’s putting it mildly.”

Lee wasn’t alone in her frustration.

MS NOW also spoke to two other Trump voters in Clewiston who were just as furious. One man said he felt “hoodwinked” after voting for Trump, while another man echoed his sentiments by saying he was “angry” and “feels betrayed.”

During his 2024 presidential campaign, Trump’s biggest campaign promise was to bring down soaring prices and the high cost of living that mounted during former President Joe Biden’s presidency. This key promise resonated with many voters and won Trump the election. But nearly two years into his second term, many Americans are tightening their purse strings even more than they did under Biden, and millions are facing an affordability crisis.

Thanks to Trump’s war with Iran, gasoline and diesel prices have hit a record high. The spike in fuel prices has also led to higher prices in grocery stores, with produce, meat and other perishables needing to be hauled in and restocked frequently — and some of these items are harvested using diesel-powered farm equipment.

The Trump administration’s response to Americans’ financial woes has been underwhelming and borderline insulting.

Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins said earlier this month that if someone can’t afford the high cost of beef, they should just change their diet, saying, “You can eat chicken, pork, salmon, eggs. There are other sources of really good protein.”

Trump, on the other hand, responded to rising inflation in June by actually uttering: “I love the inflation.”
