What Amex Platinum lounge access includes
With both the American Express Platinum Card® and The Business Platinum Card®, eligible cardmembers can tap into multiple lounge programs by presenting their eligible card, a government-issued ID, and a same-day boarding pass.
Centurion Lounges are the flagship offering. But Platinum also includes access to Delta Sky Club lounges (with limitations), Priority Pass Select lounges (enrollment required), plus additional partner lounges through the broader Global Lounge Collection.
Amex says the collection spans more than 1,550 lounges across 140 countries, though access is not uniform. Each network has its own guest rules, hours, and qualifying flights—so “lounge access” isn’t one blanket benefit. It’s a set of benefits that behave differently in different terminals.
Centurion Lounges: the top-tier experience—and its limits
Centurion Lounges are designed to feel like a true airport retreat, with a staffed bar, meals, plenty of nonalcoholic options, high-speed Wi-Fi, and varied seating. Some locations also include added amenities such as family rooms.
In the U.S.. there are currently 16 Centurion Lounges open. and Amex has a clear expansion path: a new Centurion Lounge is planned for Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) in 2026. with another set for Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) in 2029.. There’s also a dining concept called “Sidecar by Centurion Lounge. ” debuting in Las Vegas in 2026 with a quicker format for flights departing within 90 minutes. with an additional location planned for Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) in 2027.
Access is tightly timed.. Platinum and Business Platinum cardmembers can enter only within three hours of the scheduled departure time on their flight.. Arriving early doesn’t automatically mean you can walk in—unless you’re connecting with a qualifying layover. in which case the three-hour rule may not apply the same way.. To access, you’ll also need a same-day, confirmed boarding pass, your eligible Amex card, and your government-issued identification.
Guest policy matters just as much as entry timing.. In the U.S.. guest fees apply for most ages: $50 per guest age 18+ and $30 per guest age 2–17 (guests under two are complimentary with proof of age).. There is also a path to complimentary guest access after significant eligible spending—up to two guests per visit once you hit the annual threshold. with that benefit lasting through defined periods after the qualifying year.
Delta Sky Club, Priority Pass Select, and partner networks
When Centurion Lounges aren’t available—or when your itinerary lines up better elsewhere—your Platinum card still has strong backup options.
Delta Sky Club access is available when flying on a Delta-operated or Delta-marketed flight operated by WestJet.. Ticket type has real consequences here: you can’t access Sky Clubs on basic economy (or an equivalent ticket on Delta/partner arrangements).. Entry is permitted up to three hours before departure for a same-day Delta-operated flight. or during a connection between two Delta-operated flights on the same ticket.. To get in, you show your Platinum card, government-issued ID, and same-day boarding pass.
Sky Club visits are limited: cardmembers receive up to 10 visits per program year. and additional authorized users with their own Platinum cards get their own allotments.. After using the included visits. access can be purchased for $50 per visit. or $25 for Delta Sky Club “Grab and Go” locations.. There’s also a meaningful upgrade if you spend $75. 000 or more on eligible purchases in a calendar year—unlocking unlimited Sky Club access through the end of the next program year.
Priority Pass Select expands the map further by giving access to more than 1,800 lounges worldwide, though it requires enrollment.. After enrollment, you use your Priority Pass card, plus your ID and same-day boarding pass at eligible locations.. Some lounges have limited Priority Pass hours. and guest rules can apply—if guests are allowed. you can typically bring up to two. with additional guests charged per lounge policy.
Beyond these. you may also find Escape Lounges (the Centurion Studio partner) in the U.S.. Australia. and the U.K.. plus Plaza Premium lounge access in various airports.. Lufthansa lounges can also play a role. but there’s a major timeline change: access to select Lufthansa lounges ends effective Oct.. 1, 2026.. For now. select access may be available when traveling on Lufthansa Group airlines. with participating locations requiring the same basic entry items—plus guest rules that vary by location.

The smartest approach is to treat lounge access as itinerary planning, not just card ownership. Because eligibility hinges on the airline and ticket, even two travelers with the same card can have very different experiences depending on how their flight is marketed and operated.
