AFL 2026: Collingwood’s Darcy Cameron, Bobby Hill ruled out

Collingwood will face Sydney without Darcy Cameron and Bobby Hill, who were sidelined by injury management and childbirth-related leave.
Collingwood will tackle ladder leaders Sydney without Darcy Cameron after the star big man was sidelined with ankle soreness.. It comes as Collingwood coach Craig McRae also ruled Bobby Hill out of any football this weekend to be beside his partner during childbirth.. Cameron played through the previous match against Geelong with a sore ankle but won’t even fly to Sydney for Friday night’s match.. “Darcy’s not going to play, he’s got a bit going
on with his body, we’re going to rule him out and not travel,” McRae said.. “His partner is due next week as well, there’s a bit going on around the house for him.. “His body’s not quite ready to perform this week, so we’re going to hold him back and not travel.. “We’ll find a way (to replace him), we’ll find a way.. Whether it’s Oscar (Steene) does a bit more centre bounce and then
we have other players go in and play their part.. “It’s one part of the game, but we’ll try a few things.” Hill has been working towards a senior return and played his first full game in the VFL last weekend.. But, according to McRae, Hill has been granted leave to be alongside partner Georgia Devlin.. “Bobby’s partner is due, she’s due this weekend, he’s unlikely to play,” McRae said.. “I am not sure if
she’s going into labour, but he’s not here today, she’s got a bit going on.. “Again, we wish them well and see how that goes in the next couple of days.” McRae added to his “we’ll find a way” attitude about Cameron’s absence by hinting at some positional changes.. He said the Magpies would look to deploy Josh Daicos through the middle of the ground more, just as they did in the last quarter against
the Cats.. The addition of Josh at centre ball-ups could relieve his brother Nick, who will almost certainly have Sydney’s gun tagger James Jordon for company all night.. “Yeah, you’d think so, (Jordon has) been doing a good job on most talent from the opposition.. He’s a quality player we’re going to have to watch out for,” he said.. “Nick’s hard to tag, last (game) he sort of didn’t lower his colours but didn’t have
the impact he’s been having around the game.. “I think that will happen.”
