A front will keep shower and storm coverage widespread through next week

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Showers and storms remain possible overnight and it will be warm and muggy with temperatures in the 70s.
Shower and storm coverage will remain widespread on Sunday thanks to a stalled front. It will be warm and breezy with temperatures in the 80s.
Localized flooding will be possible, especially for those areas that see several rounds of showers and storms.
The unsettled pattern will persist through next week, due to a stalled front along with a developing area of low pressure. This will keep clouds and rain coverage widespread through the end of next week with temperatures in the 70s and 80s.
Several inches of rainfall will be possible through this time frame. Localized flooding will be possible, especially for those areas that see several rounds of showers and storms.
Coastal hazards will also return to the forecast next week. This includes a high risk for rip currents, rough surf and coastal flooding.
Regarding the drought, the latest drought monitor reflects improvement across our area. Several areas have been downgraded to the lowest category (abnormally dry).
While we are still in a deficit, rainfall this week will once again lead to more improvement in the next outlook.
