Pistol Magazine With 11 Live 9mm Rounds Found in Makoi

Fiji’s military says an 11-round live 9mm pistol magazine was found near a bus stop by Nasinu Police Station. Investigations are ongoing with police.
The Republic of Fiji Military Forces confirms that a pistol magazine containing eleven live 9mm rounds was discovered at approximately 5am yesterday near a bus stop adjacent to the Nasinu Police Station in the Makoi area.. RFMF Commander, Major General Ro Jone Kalouniwai says the item was discovered by a member of the public, who immediately alerted RFMF personnel based in Nasinu.. Preliminary assessments conducted by the RFMF confirmed that the magazine and ammunition are
not part of the official RFMF inventory.. The Army Commander says the recovered items have since been secured and are currently in RFMF custody.. Investigations are currently being conducted jointly by the Republic of Fiji Military Forces and the Fiji Police Force to determine the origin and circumstances surrounding the discovery.. The RFMF reminds members of the public that any suspicious items, including weapons, ammunition, or military-related equipment, must not be handled and should be
reported immediately to the nearest police station or RFMF camp.. The RFMF and Fiji Police Force continue to request the assistance and cooperation of the public in providing any information that may assist ongoing investigations.
