Xbox Launches New XP Division To Conquer Global Entertainment

Xbox XP – Microsoft is launching a dedicated division, XP, to transform its gaming franchises into a billion-person entertainment empire spanning film, TV, and live events.
The ambition is as bold as it is simple: Microsoft wants to entertain one billion people every single day. To reach that number, the company is moving beyond the console, formally launching a new division today dubbed XP. The mandate for this team is to stretch Xbox’s most recognizable worlds and characters into film. television. live events. and retail products.
Chief Strategy Officer Matthew Ball framed the move as a cornerstone of the company’s push to become the world’s leading entertainment firm. Leading the charge is Kayleen Walters. a veteran who spent 13 years at Lucasfilm before joining the Minecraft studio Mojang as president. Her track record includes executive producing last year’s successful Minecraft film and serving as a producer on its upcoming sequel.
While the company has yet to unveil a specific slate of new films or concert tours. the blueprint for the division is clear. XP will act as a central hub for forging partnerships with external brands and creators. This work will also encompass the physical world. including the Minecraft theme park scheduled to open in the UK next year.
The strategy relies on a library of intellectual property that Microsoft has been aggressively building. The path forward is already visible in the success of the Fallout series on Prime Video. which stands in contrast to the more mixed reception of the live-action Halo show. With the Activision acquisition closed. the potential for high-profile projects—including a long-discussed Call of Duty film—has shifted from theoretical to part of a formal business plan.
Behind the scenes, the roadmap is already crowded. Development plans exist for adaptations of Gears of War, Candy Crush, Diablo, Forza, and The Elder Scrolls. Furthermore. the company has confirmed a collaborative effort with Kojima Productions. securing rights for the creator’s upcoming action-espionage title. Physint. with plans to expand that project into television and film.
The shift represents a clear evolution in how Microsoft views its gaming catalog. By treating games as the foundation for a broader transmedia ecosystem. the company is attempting to monetize its franchises through every available medium. moving from the living room screen to the cinema and. eventually. the theme park.
