Vivo X300 FE brings big zoom with extender support

Vivo just pulled the curtain back on the X300 FE, a more midrange take on its X300 lineup—while still pushing one very specific idea hard: zoom that actually goes far.

The company says the phone is launching globally alongside the Vivo X300 Ultra, and this “FE” model aims to land a lower price by trimming down the processor and parts of the camera system. But the interesting twist is what Vivo did keep. For the first time, the FE version is compatible with Vivo’s telephoto extender. In plain terms, you can attach the Telephoto Extender Gen 2 to the X300 FE and reach a 200mm-equivalent focal length.

There’s a real-world quality to that, too. The extender itself is 153 grams, so it’s not exactly featherlight—but it’s the difference between a “good zoom attempt” and a setup that feels like it’s meant for reaching out. Misryoum editorial desk noted that the X300 FE’s built-in telephoto camera should be fine on its own, yet the extender is what turns the whole experience into something more “serious.”

On the front, the Vivo X300 FE keeps things familiar with a 6.31-inch display matching the standard X300, and it lands in roughly the same dimensions. Depending on color, it can be as thin as 7.99mm and weigh as little as 191 grams. Vivo also includes an aluminum frame and IP69 durability protection—dust and water ingress resistance, basically the kind of spec people look for without thinking too much until they drop a device, or something spills. Actually, I’m still not sure anyone buys phones for IP69 alone, but it’s there.

Inside, the phone runs on Qualcomm’s midrange Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 mobile platform, paired with 12GB of memory and either 256GB or 512GB storage. It’s not the chip class you’d see in the higher tiers—Misryoum newsroom reported the X300 series includes more flagship-level options in other models—so the FE here is clearly meant to be the value lane.

Battery and charging sound built for long days: a 6,500mAh battery, 90W wired charging, and 40W wireless charging. The camera hardware is where the “trimmed” story is most visible. Unlike the higher models, the X300 FE doesn’t have a 200MP primary shooter. Instead, it uses a 50MP, f/1.6 main camera, plus a 50MP, f/2.7 telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and an 8MP ultrawide. The rear camera design also differs—those cameras sit in an oval housing near the top of the device, which is a departure from both the Vivo X200 FE and the rest of the X300 line.

Vivo says the X300 FE will be available globally in Mist Purple, Glow White, Luxe Black, and Urban Olive colorways, though official pricing and availability details haven’t been confirmed yet. It also promises five years of Android OS upgrades and two additional years of security updates. For an FE model, that’s… a pretty reassuring support window. And for anyone buying specifically for photography, the extender compatibility is the part that could make the whole decision easier—even if we’re still waiting on the numbers that decide whether it’s a “must buy” or just a smart alternative.
